So it’s clear that we’ll probably have to do something about it. It won’t build itself. Actually, it all starts with furnishing the apartment or house. With a house, it seems more complicated, but that’s probably not the case. Here, everyone decides how they want to furnish the room where they’ll live, and the shared spaces just have to be discussed together. Everyone has to compromise on all their demands, and everyone should meet somewhere in the middle. The same applies to classic prefab apartment living, though there will probably be a few fewer rooms here. So there should be fewer problems with furnishing. Some are against them, claiming they just collect dust; others couldn’t live without them. After all, they do provide a greater sense of warmth from the floor. And we usually buy nice ones—ones we like—that can cover up a floor that isn’t quite so pretty. Technical matters are usually the domain of men, so they should be the ones to decide on them. That is, the placement of extension cords, because every household has too few electrical outlets and similar things. All of this should be under the man’s direction. Sometimes it’s hard to combine modern style with what we like. On top of all that, we should also incorporate functionality. Well, not everyone can handle it with ease and without a hitch. But then, once everything is done, you live contentedly, glad it’s over, and just reminisce. Every painting, every little detail, and every nail in the wall reminds you of his work.
